Airtel launches 4G VoLTE services in Goa and Maharashtra
NEW DELHI: Leading Indian Telecom operator Airtel has rolled out its Voice over LTE (VoLTE) services in Goa and Maharashtra. The telecom giant started the roll out of 4G VoLTE services last month with Mumbai. The company claims that its VoLTE service will offer customers HD quality voice calls along with faster call set up time.
Airtel VoLTE will be available on popular 4G/LTE enabled mobile devices, which must have an Airtel 4G SIM. Customers can call any mobile, landline network using Airtel VoLTE. There will be no additional data charges for VoLTE and calls will be billed as per existing plan or packs benefits. The company also adds that in the case of non-availability of 4G, Airtel VoLTE calls will automatically fall back on 3G/2G network to ensure that customers continue to stay connected at all times.
Airtel has also deployed 4G Advanced Carrier Aggregation technology in both the regions that enable data speeds of up to 135 Mbps by combining spectrum capacities in 2300 Mhz (TD LTE) and 1800 Mhz (FD LTE).
Speaking at the launch, Rohit Marwha, Chief Executive Officer - Maharashtra & Goa, Bharti Airtel said, "We are delighted to launch VoLTE and add yet another service to our portfolio enabling customers to make the most of their mobile phone experience on our world-class 4G network across Maharashtra and Goa. With VoLTE, customers can now enjoy seamless and high-quality voice calls on our robust 4G network."
Recently, Airtel launched its 4G smartphone in association with Karbonn. The company has introduced Karbonn A40 Indian smartphone at an effective price of Rs 1,399. It is a touchscreen smartphone and comes with dual-SIM functionality. The smartphone comes bundled with a monthly pack of Rs 169 from Airtel which offers data and calling benefits.
