Hours ahead of iPhone X launch, Qualcomm takes a potshot at Apple
NEW DELHI: Qualcomm, the popular chipset maker, hours before the commencement of the Apple iPhone X launch event, has published a post stating how Android devices have always been ahead of iOS when it comes to features. The US based tech firm has listed out several features and the Android smartphones which were the first to carry it. With this post Qualcomm seems to take a potshot at Apple as the post indirectly talks about all those features that are rumoured to come in the new Apple iPhone.

The company mentioned that features like dual camera, fingerprint under display, facial recognition, augmented reality, bezel-less display, OLED display, NFC and more were first introduced with HTC One M8, Qualcomm reference design handset, Samsung Galaxy S8, Lenovo Phab 2 Pro, Xiaomi Mi Mix, LG Flex 2 and Moto X respectively. All these smartphones are powered by Qualcomm chips under the hood.

Although Qualcomm has not mentioned Apple anywhere in the post, it has even mentioned that it was the first to achieve depth sensing tech with structured light, another feature rumoured to come in the iPhone X. Apple is said to integrate a similar tech in its front-facing camera.

Directly aiming at Apple, Qualcomm adds that, "We're working on inventing the next set of world firsts and collaborating with partners across the industry to get them into your hands, on a band around your wrist, or with lenses for over your eyes. Here's to the next generation of mobile device start-ups and innovators, competing to bring you the next wave of class-leading Android devices."

"As before, they'll continue to pave the way for others to come."

For those unaware, Qualcomm and Apple has been in a court battle over a patent licensing issue. Until now, Apple has reportedly filed 11 international lawsuits against Qualcomm.
