Nasscom Foundation, Arcesium India launch first rural digital literacy center in Telangana
HYDERABAD: Nasscom Foundation along with Arcesium India, a post-trade
technology and professional services firm, on Saturday launched their
first rural digital literacy centre in Telangana, which is equipped to
train around 1,000 beneficiaries from underprivileged communities around
the Peeddashapur area.
The centre will train at least one member
of each family to make them digitally literate under the Pradhan Mantri
Gramin Digital Saksharta Abhiyaan (previously called National Digital
Literacy Mission).
Once trained,
the beneficiaries will be able to register for Aadhaar, ration, and PAN
cards, pay bills online, send emails, and log onto the internet for
financial, educational, healthcare and communication needs. The central
government has designed a curriculum of 20 hours, with trainees expected
to spend two hours per day for 10 days
Ranvijay
Lamba, country head, Arcesium India said the requirements of such
centres are more in the rural area and the company plans to support
similar initiatives in Telangana.
Arcesium
is supporting the training infrastructure and the trainers at the
centre with the help of their implementation partner, Nirmaan
Organization.
Srikanth Srinivasan, regional director, Nasscom Foundation, said, "This is our first digital literacy centre in rural Telangana and the 10th overall in the state. Till now we have trained 7,000 youth in the city centres. Each centre can train 1,000 to 1,200 youth per annum. Till now NASSCOM has established 170 NDLMs all over India. The objective of the program is to ensure that every household in rural India has at least one computer literate member."
