Google Facebook fraud suspect's extradition cleared by Lithuania

VILINUS: _{A Lithuanian appeal court on Friday ordered the extradition to the United States of a man accused of swindling $100 million (85 million euros) from tech giants Google and Facebook.}

_{The court in the Baltic state rejected the appeal of suspect Evaldas Rimasauskas against an earlier extradition order due to the "possible damage" he caused to US-registered companies.}

_{The 48-year-old was arrested in March in EU member Lithuania at the request of US authorities, who accuse him of deceiving the two US firms in 2013-2015 by posing as a large Asia-based hardware vendor.} 

Google reportedly delays Android O by few more days

“The Android O update for Pixel has been pushed back (surprise). No new ETA,” tweeted Ruddock on August 10. There is no word as to when Google plans to release the final version of Android O. However, he later tweeted that Google would release the OS version on the day of the solar eclipse, which is August 21.

Rimasauskas is charged with defrauding Google of $23.3 million from and $99 million from Facebook, according to the court's press release.

He is also accused of forging invoices, contracts and letters to trick the companies into wiring money to bank accounts in Latvia and Cyprus.

The decision is final but the handover date has not yet been announced.

Google starts rolling out new security tool to stop download of malicious apps

Technology giant Google has started rolling out the Play Protect feature, which was announced in May during its annual developer conference Google I/O 2017.

California-based internet giant Google insisted in July that the scam was pulled off using deception and that none of its systems were hacked.

Google also said it had updated its internal processes to guard against similar incidents and recovered the money lost.
