Vodafone offers 70GB 4G data, unlimited calls at Rs 244: Should you take and what Jio, Airtel offer
The
data war continues. It all started with the coming of Jio, back in
September 2016 and its free and unlimited 4G data and voice calling
services. Soon after Jio was introduced, it shook up the completely
telecom space and gave sleepless nights to its competent with its free
services. However, to counter attack Jio and its offerings, other major
telcos like - Bharti Airtel and Vodafone also introduced several value
for money plans to retain their customer base. In regards to that,
Vodafone India has now come up with a new plan under which the new
prepaid subscribers will get 1GB of 4G data per day for a period of 70
days.
Vodafone's
new prepaid plan is called First Recharge Coupon (FRC) 244. First, as
mentioned earlier, this is only for the new Vodafone prepaid users, the
ones who have recently got a new 4G SIM card. Coming to the plan now. It
offers up to 1GB of 4G data to the subscriber, for a span of 70 days.
Not only that, under the plan, users will also get unlimited STD and
local voice calling facility, but there's a catch. The voice calling is
restricted to only with the Vodafone network. This is a major drawback
of this new plan by the telecom operator. The plan can be taken up for
Rs 244. This is what this new plan offers.
It
is noteworthy that this offer is limited only for the first recharge.
What does that mean? This means that the users subscribing to this new
Vodafone plan will get 1GB of 4G data every day for 70 days only for the
first recharge. So, that is, after the first 70 days, if the subscriber
decides to opt for a second recharge the validity of the plan will come
down to 35 days. The tariff plan is available only for certain regions
and the tariff may vary in different areas.

Meanwhile
similar to the Vodafone's Rs 244 offers, Airtel also comes up with one.
Bharti Airtel under its Rs 244 plan offers 1GB data per day for 70
days, and unlimited STD and local calls. However there's a catch. There
seems to be a limit of 300 minutes of free Airtel to Airtel calls daily,
and 1200 minutes of free calls on the network per week.
That's
about the new subscribers. Vodafone India has also introduced a much
similar plan for its old customers as well. For the old ones, the
telecom major has come up with Rs 346 plan under which they will offer
1GB of 4G data per day and voice calls to any network for 56 days. But,
there's also a catch. The voice calling facility is limited. The
subscribers will be able to make only 300 minutes - which is around 5
hours per day, and 1,200 minutes per week. So, the plan doesn't really
offer 'unlimited' voice calling service to its users like the Jio Rs 349
tariff which offers the same data but 'unlimited' voice calls to any
network for 56 days. And after crossing the daily FUP, the internet
speed will drop down to 128 Kbps. There are some plans by other telcos
like - Jio, Airtel and Idea that seems to be much more effective than
these Vodafone plans that come with some many limitations. Let's take a
look.
As
mentioned, the first is the Rs 349 prepaid plan by Jio which offers 1GB
of 4G data and unlimited voice calling to any network for 56 days.
Reliance Jio recently revamped most of its tariff plans. Earlier the Rs
349 plan used to offer the same service for 28 days only. After crossing
the daily FUP, the internet speed will drop down to 128 Kbps. The
revised plan obviously seems much better. Then there's Airtel. Bharti
Airtel offers 1GB of data per day along with unlimited calls to any
network for 28 days at Rs 349. Earlier the daily FUP of this plan was
1GB, now Airtel seems to have revised and increased it to 2GB.
There
are some other plans by these telecom operators which are also among
the best one. Offers more service in less money. One such plan is Jio's
Rs 309 plan (which is now revised) offers Jio Prime users with 1GB of 4G
data for 56 days. The subscribers will also get unlimited voice calls
(no terms and conditions applied). The same plan before it was revised
offered similar service for 28 days only. Then there's another Rs 509
plan by Jio. Under this plan, subscribers will get 84GB of 4G data for
84 days with a daily FUP of 1GB. Along with the 84GB data, the plan also
offers unlimited voice calling facility. After crossing the daily FUP,
the internet speed will drop down to 128 Kbps.
Apart
from Jio, Airtel has also come up with several exciting offers for its
users. Bharti Airtel recently announced Project Next -- a digital
innovation program aimed at transforming customer experience across all
of its services and touch points. Under Project Next, Airtel will revamp
its stores, launch mobile handset protection schemes. Not only that,
Airtel will now transfer unused mobile data to next month for postpaid
users. Meanwhile, Airtel has also extended its 'Monsoon offer' for
another 3 more billing cycles. Under the scheme, the telecom operator
offers up to 30GB of free 4G data to the post-paid users for consecutive
3 months.
Coming
back to Vodafone's new Rs 244 and Rs 346 plan. The new Vodafone 4G SIM
card holders will also get 5 per cent cash back on recharging from My
Vodafone app. The cash back will be redeemed in the form of talk time.
